Finding legal work can be a challenge for many new or soon-to-be new lawyers. Job seekers sometimes only see a few, well-trod paths to the “right” job, with too many people fighting for a small number of openings. What they may not realize is that there are a wide array of different paths they can take, as well as creative ways to find—or create—the right job.

If you are a new lawyer, MCLE is committed to helping you succeed. We offer this free program to help you navigate the legal job market and maximize your potential as you embark on your legal career. Designed especially for third-year law students and recent graduates, Pathways to Practice outlines opportunities that will help you get your legal career started. This half-day program is full of cutting-edge information that you can use to identify prospects that could make the difference between a rocky post-law school experience and a smooth transition from school to career.

In this program, a panel of experts—many of whom have navigated a unique path to a satisfying legal career—offer practical advice and concrete suggestions for lawyers who are just starting out. From contract work to volunteer jobs to hanging a shingle, there is something for everyone. You also get specific advice on essential activities related to the job search, such as networking and marketing, and hear real-life success stories. If you are unsure of your path to a legal career and the next steps you should take, this is a program you should not miss.
